MyVoice: "Since last few days I am not feeling OK. I need to feel better. Wish I can talk about it."
MindVoice: "I will be judged. It is not brave to ask for help for such emotional issues. Ignore! Go on with the routine"
What is MyVoice and MindVoice?
MindVoice, our mind is telling us to do things. MyVoice, we are telling our mind what to do.
MindVoice is our thinking patterns, which is formed based on past experiences, upbringing, culture, nation, billion years of collective human experiences and so on. This is also called conditioning. It is an automatic thought process which gets triggered in response to an event. We may call it as unconscious thought process, something which we are not aware of.
MyVoice is our inner voice. It is a conscious thinking based on our intelligence, needs / wants, circumstances and most importantly the present situation. This is also called Mindful thinking. We may call it as conscious thought process, something which we are completely aware of. Why are we talking about it?
This is one of the tools to bring any change in life. Moving from unconscious living to conscious living by making mindful choices about what we do.
Let's think about the outcome of our choice in the above example.
If we choose MindVoice (unconsciously that is what will do), we will never share our feelings or emotional challenges with anyone. We are limited by our own thought process. This choice is going to affect our physical and mental well-being.
If we choose MyVoice, we will reach out and get support. We will take control our life by managing our emotions and taking care of our well-being. We will be able to handle our relationships . With our experience, we will be able to help our family and friends.
The choice we make has significant impact on our lives as well as on people around us.
Where does the power lie?
We need to be aware of both the voices and need to make mindful or conscious decision to choose one. Most of the times we feel that our MindVoice is right and powerful but that is not true. Choosing MindVoice might be easier but it may not make us feel in control of our life. It may stops us from making the change we want.
The power lies WITH us to make the MINDFUL choice, MindVoice OR MyVoice.
