In our previous two blogs (https://www.healfoundation.co.in/post/mindvoice-or-myvoice-i-don-t-know-how), we spoke about "What", "Why" and "How" of my-voice and mind-voice. Today, we are going to talk about "When".
When will we start listening to my-voice?
In the past month, many child abuse incidents have surfaced from well established schools some of which have happened long ago, reported after a decade.
Let us take a moment and ask ourselves, "What stopped our children from sharing with us?, What could we have done differently for them to openly share with us?" Was it our children 's mind-voice, afraid of being judged or ignored by us? Has our conditioning of minds reflected on theirs too?
In case our children shared with us "What stopped us from reporting these incidents or taking further actions?" Was it our mind-voice, fearful of society and conditioned with our beliefs from past experiences?
If we were open with my-voice's at home on discussions relating to body, sensuality, adolescence, abuse etc. would it have made our children feel safe to come and share with us? Knowing about the incidents if we could have listen to my-voice , "I need to report this to stop this in future", "I need to help my child", could the events have unfolded differently? Could their have been quicker outcomes? Could it have deterred future incidents? We never know unless we try. But are we getting overpowered by our mind-voice to even think of other possibilities?
I am not undermining the trauma, those individuals and their families might have gone through or are going through. And this is not about one particular issue but in general whenever we are put in uncomfortable situation, we want the situation to change. How willing are we to listen to that strong my-voice to change? Every time we are part of the problem, we need to be part of the solution too. Every time we let our mind-voice dominate (which is very comforting and conditioned), we may completely delay or remove the possibility of change.
Let us make this world safer and better place for our children to live, by empowering my-voice for ourselves and our children, NOW, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
